A few days ago, after 149 years and 311 days, the oldest newspaper in Denver, “The Rocky Mountain News,” published its last edition. The Rocky earned four Pulitzer Prizes in the past eight years, not an easy feat and was known for its hard-hitting stories and ability to ferret out corruption in high places. You would think the powers that be could have allowed it to continue for 54 more days so they could celebrate its 150 birthday.
