Elwood Clayton Kegley, 84 of Carpenter Rd in Wallingfor, KY died Wednesday, Dec 24, 2003 at Fleming County Hsopital after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Georgia Hitt Kegley.
Mr. Kegley was born in the Long Branch Community of Lewis County, KY on Dec 20, 1919 and was the son of the late George Henry and Nancy Anna Elliott Kegley. He was a farmer in the Mount Carmel area and attended the Mount Carmel Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Elwood Howard Kegley and his wife Barb; James Dale Kegley and his wife Gerry; Wanda Kegley Davis and her husband Robert and 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Also included are his sisters Virginia Kegley Carpenter and Betty Jewell Kegley Crump and two brothers Ora Kegley and Clarence Kegley.
Preceding Mr. Kegley in death were both his parents, two brothers Willard and Russell Clyde Kegley; two sisters Vada Kegley Rigdon and Dorothy Kegley Jester and one grandchild.
Visitation is Saturday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Knox Brothers Funeral Home, and services for Mr. Kegley will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Dec 28, 2003 at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert M. Donovan presiding over the services. His burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are listed as David Kegley, Timmy Hickerson, Jeff Drury, John Sibert, Duane Denney, Jeff Hilterbrand, Marty Maze, John Utterback and Jason Prater.
